tattoo care.

before.
Prior to your appointment please get a good nights sleep. Stay hydrated. It is highly preferred that you do not show up drunk or high to the appointment.
Please wear appropriate clothing according to the area you will be tattooed. It is advised to wear loose clothing if the area will be covered. Any tight clothing that may rub will irritate the new tattoo.
-
second skin.
After your tattoo is finished, a clear film bandage called second skin (Ultraderm) will be placed over the fresh ink.
Keep the second skin on for a minimum of 4-7 days, you can shower with it on, just try not to submerge it.
Avoid intense exercise that may cause you to sweat (this will cause the second skin to peel off.)
When taking the second skin off, you can take it off in the shower or run it under water to help it peel of more easily.
NO tanning or public water for a minimum of 6 weeks.
-
aftercare.
Once you have taken off your second skin, please put tattoo specific cream on or an unscented, mild moisturizer on. It is advised not to use any oil based aftercare.
Please repeat these steps below 2-3 times a day for 4-6 weeks after getting a new tattoo.
With clean hands, gently wash the area with mild soap and water.
Let the tattoo dry fully before applying any aftercare. Air dry or paper towel dry. Using a towel or cloth may introduce bacteria.
Apply a thin layer of aftercare, it should absorb into the skin keeping it moisturized without suffocating it.
-
healing.
Always wash your hands before cleaning your tattoo or applying any tattoo aftercare.
It is perfectly normal for your tattoo to feel itchy, become flaky and start to scab over.
It is also normal for your new tattoo to ooze excess ink and blood.
Avoid direct, prolonged sunlight for 4-6 weeks.
DO NOT pick or scratch the area - this may delay the healing process and cause scarring.
NO tanning of public water for a minimum of 4-6 weeks. This includes saunas, hot tubs and swimming pools. (Even after the second skin has been removed.)
