Kristin Yip is a Chinese Canadian artist hailing from Vancouver, BC. Her work is the culmination of influences both geographical and in practice. Her hands-on approach to creativity led to her formal career in apparel design and development, whereas her time spent living across Asia and Africa shaped her as a visual artist.

Living by the mantra of being observant, grateful and present, Kristin draws inspiration from her surroundings and environment. People, places, moments, and emotions are all facets of her art.

Her brushworks often feature themes of nature, flora and starry plains; reminiscent of scenes she’s encountered and moments etched along her journey. Her paintings blend the striking beauty of sumi ink and the delicateness of watercolour, evoking a sense of stillness and allure. While living in Tokyo, Kristin participated in multiple exhibitions where she displayed her brushworks and performed live paintings. She also applied her aesthetic when commissioned to work on logo design and branding projects.

Currently residing in her hometown Vancouver, Kristin is now honing in on her love for tattoo art and focusing on learning the craft, developing her style as a tattoo artist. Her ink designs are akin to her brushwork with watercolour styled strokes that flow across the human canvas and are designed to accentuate the shape and beauty of the body.
